What’s New

Filed under: News — Theron @ 8:18 am

Lately I’ve been doing paintings just as gifts, so I’d do on and give it away forgetting to take a picture before I lose custody… And then repeat the process. I do have some new stuff (at least compared to what’s on here at the moment) though, and I do plan to put it up but who knows when. Summer’s coming soon!

大きいGod!

Filed under: Art, School — Theron @ 10:19 pm

Last friday, I participated in an “Arts & Crafts Day” for the Japanese Culture Club I’m involved in at my school (Right Here). At the event I chose to demonstrate block printing – since a majority of the most amazing of traditional Japanese arts happened to be woodblock prints, I found it a worthy addition to the usual origami and calligraphy. So, though there would have been no problem showing up empty handed except for some supplies, knowledge and maybe something I’d already done, I felt it necessary to cut something specifically for the event. So the night before, rather than sleeping I started and finished cutting a simple 2 layer wooblock of Amateratsu from the Clover game Ookami to print on the spot during the event.

Ookami Print
I managed to get 4 sloppy prints out of the event, so if anyone’s interested in having one, I’ll let them go for $20 ea. Just let me know.

I dare you to watch this, but only if you want your dreams to be crushed:

…if I could sing like him, I would be oh so happy.

The new Seven Cities

Filed under: News — Theron @ 4:37 pm

Is finally here. I have yet to complete the site in its entirety, but as of today I deem it worthy of public viewing. So this is really just for those of you (if there are any…) who are anxious to see the new deal. So make sure you check back soon. From here on out, I’ll be logging updates

Almost Free

Filed under: Life, News — Theron @ 2:49 pm

Only two more final exams to pass and I’m free for a couple weeks.
Plans include:

  • renovating the site
  • day–tripping
  • screen–printing
  • maybe going camping
  • reading
  • resting… if time permits
  • writing unnecessary unordered lists that nobody will read

As for the remainder of the summer, there will be a lot going on. There will be occasional updates of course.

Some print news

Filed under: Art, News — Theron @ 2:28 am

So my compeer, Trent, and I are working on screen printing sleeves for a non-profit indie music sampler CD for the Sol Collective, which will feature 15 tracks from bands from all over. It will be an edition of around 70 copies. Tonight we finished the first of two layers. I will disclose the names of the featured bands once we finish the second layer, so stay tuned!
Here’s a little preview:

Also, for those of you who are in the Sacramento—or better yet, go to Sac City College—there will be a print sale in front of the fountain in front of the auditorium at the school this Thursday (May 8th) from 10am–2pm. I will have a couple prints featured, both limited editions (I already cleaned out the screens for both).
One will be a print from earlier in the semester with a title, encrypted in German, long enough for me to give up on repeating it a second time. It is a four layer reduction print of a black-metal style portrait. I’m not sure how many I will be submitting for the sale, but I will probably be pricing them somewhere between $7-$10. What do you think?

The second is somewhat exclusive, because I haven’t even turned in the assignment for the prints yet. Anyway, this one is a ten layer print, originally an edition of 24 (13, however, will be submitted into a mandatory exchange for the class), which features a moose mermaid, who is also a house maid and a megalomaniac by attempting to dust-mop the ocean floor… nonetheless, I am also not sure how many of this print will be submitting for the sale but I am thinking of pricing it somewhere between $15-$20. Once again, what do you think? The top layer, by the way, is transparent and is seen only at certain angles depending on the light so here are two angles to try to give you an idea. Of course the photos do no justice to the actual physical print, but I’m sure you’ve already heard that phrase a million times.

P.S. No computers were involved in the production of these prints. Keepin’ it classic, by hand! ◊

Biker Gangs Go Couture

Filed under: Design, School — Theron @ 5:50 pm

Finals are coming up in a couple weeks things are getting a little crazy, but I’ll spare the details. Instead I figured I’d share a little preview of my Fashion Illustration final project.
In the completed project there will be two illustrated six piece collections, one for spring, the other for fall, including flats and presentation. This specific croquis is for my for my fall collection, which is inspired by 暴走族 (bosozoku) or Japanese biker gangs. Still no details though. If you’re interested you’ll have to wait till I’m done. ◊
